  • Is it possible to connect a cadence device to the app for cycling?

    • The Frontier X/X2 can be connected as a Third Party Heart Rate Sensor connected to Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) supported devices.

      • Yes, I’ve connected it to a Garmin 530; but the cycle task shows pace, cadence distance but no obvious way to add devices to the frontier device app. It looks like someone was thinking of providing those features? Not implemented yet??

        • Yes that’s right, you cannot connect the cadence sensor to the mobile app as of now. That is valuable feedback and our team has taken a note of it ! 🙂

  • I have just read your advice on Afib. I was diagnosed with Paroxymal at the beginning of the year from a NHS 72 hour heart monitor follow a stroke. As an ex athlete now in my 70s who ran 13 marathon during the 80s and 90s breaking the 3 hour barrier at London in 1987. I understand from my consultant cardiologist that this disorder is very common…Read More

    • You can’t use the apps recommendations for your situation. I suggest you read the book “Haywire heart” if you want to learn more about the athletes heart and common conditions. It helped me understand my condition. I don’t wear the X2 strap for training purposes, i wear it like a Holter to see how my heart is doing on and off my rides. It actually…Read More

  • How do I figure out my true (err on the side of safe) max heart rate? I’m not an athlete. I regularly exceed 175 (220 – 45yo). I just did a 20 minute functional threshold performance test on my peloton. I was definitely huffing and puffing at the end. My heart rate reached 187 and my breathing rate was very high at 59 while my max heart strain was…Read More

    • The 220 minus age formula is next to useless. For example, I’m 60 yrs old with a max HR of 196, yet I know others my age with 160 bpm max.
I’m not able to hit my max HR during 20 min critical power test, that requires a shorter, more intense effort. So I would imagine your Max HR is still going to be higher than 187, perhaps by as much as 10-…Read More
