Just purchased the Frontier X as I have family history of heart disease and as my brother who was an avid cyclist not struggling with 70 to 100 miles in one go, suffered a heart attack while cycling and died. So being there is a history and I cycle as well I want to know what is the best settings to use or is it best to use a combination of.
I personally can get up to about 60 miles and about 4000 feet of climbing but am looking to do the Dragon Ride in Wales which is 96 mikes and 6500 feet of climbing, some of the hills being anything from 5 to 20%
With that I want to use this to monitor any issues that may or may not occur. Sorry for the long description1 Comment

Hi Chris,
Welcome to the community! The Frontier X allows you to set lower and upper limits on a combination of Heart Rate, Breathing Rate, Cardiac Strain to tailor your workouts to achieve personal training goals and better heart health. For a focus on safety, it’s best to use upper limit alerts on Cardiac Strain at 0.18mV and Heart rate at 80% of your HR max. These are of course general recommendations and can be further fine-tuned depending on your data.
The Frontier X also allows you to mark certain events during your activity. The purpose of recording events on your Frontier X is to bookmark specific moments in your workout when you felt significant exertion or an unusual amount of strain on your heart. To mark an event, you just have to press the red button once whenever you want to mark an event during your workout. You can then use the share activity feature to send this to an expert.
We’re sorry to hear about your brother. Keep in mind that the Frontier X is not a medical device and is not a replacement for cardiac testing that your doctor might recommend keeping in mind your family history. You might be interested in the Frontier X Beta Program where you can test our latest advanced algorithms for looking at rhythm changes in the heart- you can reach out to support@fourthfrontier.com for more details. You can also take a look at the Frontier Heart Program to get personalised expert recommendations on your data. Good luck with the Dragon Ride!
