Does anybody have a loop recorder and does the FF interfere with it? I recently had a loop recorder implanted and wasn’t sure if I could wear my FF monitor.

Hi Melissa,
Thank you for writing us on the community, to answer your query:
Implantable loop recorders can occasionally experience electromagnetic interference (EMI) from nearby electronics, especially devices placed directly over the implant site.
Wearables and fitness devices have been reported to interfere with some implanted cardiac devices in rare situations, particularly when magnets, bioimpedance sensing, or strong RF sources are very close to the implant.
The Frontier X2 sits on the chest and records ECG signals, so if your loop recorder is implanted in a nearby location, there is a possibility of:
recording artifacts/noise on the loop recorder,
false event detections,
or temporary telemetry/communication issues.
There is no widely published evidence specifically showing Frontier X2 causing dangerous malfunction of loop recorders, but because both devices are chest-based cardiac electronics, it’s best to be cautious.
A practical approach:
Avoid positioning the Frontier X2 directly over the implanted recorder site.
If your cardiologist or device manufacturer gave a minimum separation distance, follow that.
During the first few uses, monitor whether the loop recorder reports unusual events/artifacts.
If you use a patient activator/app for the loop recorder, verify it still communicates properly while wearing the Frontier X2.
The safest approach is to check with:
Your electrophysiologist/cardiologist, and the loop recorder manufacturer (Medtronic LINQ, Abbott Confirm Rx, Boston Scientific LUX, etc.) because they can confirm compatibility for your exact implanted model.
