You correctly note that higher HRV values are generally better, but don’t explain this interpretation in terms of sympathetic tone and actual heart rate. You passively note that HRV is typically lower during exercise, obviously because the heart rate is increased and is likely at a relatively fixed level with sustained effort. It seems to me that this forum should offer a bit of physiological detail to their customers rather than assume that everything requires only a minimalist response.

Hi Edward, The Frontier X uses the Root Mean Square of Successive Differences between RR intervals to measure your HRV. When measured continuously, most individuals have HRV values between 0 – 100, where higher values are better. It is normal for HRV to vary during the day depending on the time of measurement. When continuously monitoring HRV, it is normal for HRV to be minimal during exercise, and reach its highest value during deep sleep.
