I recently had a second ablation surgery, this time for AFIB on my left ventricle. The first time was 5 years ago for atrial flutter. I’m a runner/triathlete and was able to start training again after the a-flutter and within a few months back run a 1:28 half (age 55). This year is much harder. The AFIB was much worse than the a-flutter, and training has been sporadic for a year. This recovery has been a real challenge and – on doctors’ orders I’m only running 15-20 miles/week…hoping to ramp back to 50-55 miles/week by 2022 spring. Have others had difficulty returning to significant mileage/tempo/speed work after AFIB?

Hoping the increased data as I resume training and sharing with my cardiologist will help.
